Sugarland at RockNGames

I went to RockNGames to hear the country music band Sugarland.  I have to say, I was totally impressed.  Kinda Fallen Loordes did a superb performance as Jennifer Nettles (lead vocals) and Devil Loordes as Kristian Bush was the perfect complement.  The lighting was on the spot.  The music didn't miss a beat, and captured the feeling of a Sugarland concert.  The duo with back-up vocals from SL's Red Raleigh, Nazirah Ansar, Saunders Weezles, and Savage Morrisey were well versed and the animations were realistic.   The energy was incredible and the audience enjoyed the show, dancing and applauding.

Happy Binder, owner of RockNGames, was welcoming upon arrival.    The complete experience was fun, and professional.

Then we all hopped over to Happy's nearby club, checking out the mix of rock tunes.

All in all, a great Sunday evening with some easy going people with great taste in music.

The Follow Exhibit at Esoterica

Details on the exhibit and a very special birthday party today at What's Up Soni.

Live on the Grid

I'm back chronicling the music scene after a major ordeal with some bad Internet service.  For now, let's start simple - I'm just passing along a couple of recommendations for singers and musicians to check out on the grid.   Belinda Barnes (below @ The Pocket) and I caught Sultry Sonata at Jade's Jazz Island last Saturday and OhMy and The Kidds last night.

Below are some photos from a couple of their regular gigs - Sultry Sonata at Jade's and OhMy at The Pocket.

Here you can listen to Sultry (below) on YouTube:

OhMy and The Kidds put on a fantastic fun show at The Pocket to a full house last night.

Hope you have as much fun as Bel and I checking out live music in Second Life!

BOSL Features Duran Duran in its August Issue

I have been so busy lately, writing writing writing, everything but this BLOG.   I'm back after a short break with the RL music scene as it intersects with SL.   So.....

Best of SL Magazine's August Issue features the virtual story behind Duran Duran.  The article highlights the band's entrance into Second Life and the creation of the Duran Duran Universe.    The vision was very much that of DD's co-founder Nick Rhodes, who has been assisted by Community Manager Chrissy Welinder in-world.  I had the wonderful opportunity to interview both Nick and Chrissy.  Rumor has it that some of the members will be popping in this weekend for a bit of fun.  Stay tuned for more information.  Better yet, hop over to DDU.    Pick up the latest BOSL at a nearby kiosk in SL.   The issue is posted online too - http://www.thebosl.com/august-issue

Don't Hate Mondays!

You can bet across the grid there's always live music - from the Alabama beaches to the NYC Skyscapers.  Monday night was a great night for it.   My night started at Bama Breeze, a Jimmy Buffett inspired beach venue, that features live music a couple times a week.   Trasc McCallen (in the gray tshirt) is the owner, and long-time Second Life resident.   Country musician Don Galager performed a great show, tossing in a few Buffett classics.   He'll be back at the Breeze this Friday.

Later that night I popped over to The Roof@NYC for Lingual Markus' live music line-up.   The roof was popping with people, including a who's who of musicians.   I just stood back and enjoyed the conversation and music.  Come to The Roof at http://slurl.com/secondlife/New%20York%20NYC/189/62/68

So don't write off Mondays in Second Life.  Well Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Big Apple look pretty good, too!!!

Alright Now. Jammin' with The Bloody Pirates

Sunday night with The Bloody Pirates at Solana's Place Live Music Venue.  I was pleasantly surprised when I decided to kill some time and popped in to hear the The Bloody Pirates.   They are the real deal, performing the music live with no tracks.   You can sense it, feel it.

The beat glides across the virtual stream.   You gotta hear them.  The lead singer moves from one song to another, with incredible timing.  The ultimate mix of rock 'n' roll tunes - ZZ Top, Hollies, Stones, Billie Idol, etc., you know the stuff - was unleashed this Sunday night.  The lead singer's voice brings the legends of the past to life.   Here's some links offered in the profile of Kris ElectricTeeth.

Kris has been a guitarist/singer/songwriter for 40 years.

In the band:  Steven Onskan, Amy Maarten, and Daigh Hadisson.

Be sure to catch them on the grid.

Happy Fourth from Sonicity

The old adage is a picture is worth a 1000 words.   So I suppose a video falls within that category to some extent, as a moving image.  This is my third annual Fourth of July CHEESECAKE Virtual Tribute Video.

It is merely intended as a fun video of celebration of good times with friends.  Pushing aside politics for a weekend, and economc woes, and just focusing on the fact that it is the USA's birthday weekend.

Catch it on FLICKR.   And Happy Fourth of July to Americans whereever you are.  And to the rest of the world, may you find something special in your life every day.
