Eclipse Fever on Slow Bake

Sonicity at SL Live Radio's station located in Mad Pea!  "I am not afraid of no eclipse."
Back with my show in time to feature music on the theme of Monday's solar eclipse!
I have been looking for songs that align themselves along this line, from the mysteries of the moon. Mother Nature, and everything in between.  Some songs that come to mind - Gina Stella's 'Under the Same Moon,' Harry Frychester's cover of 'Moondance," and The Follow's 'Love Eclipses,' just as a start.

So let's have a solar eclipse party in-world Sunday at noon, until 2pm SLT, mostly featuring SL musicians, singers, and a few extra like the amazing Jenny Johnson, who actually wrote a song "Solar Eclipse" and released a EP dedicated to the town of Makanda, right there at the epicenter of it all, and it boasts that viewing will be the longest in their small town in IL.

I will also be playing many of the regular favorites from SL artists as well, who sing their hearts out on a nearly daily basis night and day, regardless of what is going on outside in the so called real world.

School is out for Summer - Blue Skies abound

Soni at Oportu, Kansasan

"You should never never argue with the weather" - Effinjay.

....'tis the season to savor the tall green grass, scamping around the countryside barefoot, toes playing among the open fields, resting on a nearby rock or under a tree, especially on a lazy Sunday....that's my plan anyway.  Being a modern girl, I sat on a chair that happened to just be there.  Thanks SL!

Sundays, noon to 2PM SLT, power up your laptop and join me for Slow Bake on SL Live Radio.  You can listen anywhere on and off the grid.  Your favorite musicians in Second Life, plus our special focus this Sunday, for your listening pleasure:

This week I will feature Effinjay's (see prior blog) album (from 2013) titled 'Unconditionally,' of which I had already a few tracks in my playlist - now I have all 12 songs.   It is a beautiful collection, in message, voice, and instrumentation.

So come with me this Sunday, bring your blanket, picnic basket and tune into Slow Bake as I feature these amazing guys - Frogg and Jaycatt, otherwise known as Effinjay.  So this week, I pick 'Unconditionally' as a classic that will span beyond Second Life's lifetime.

"K" is released

K - the digital download of The Follow's long awaited album is available
now at Band Camp.   https://thefollow.bandcamp.com/album/k

It was released a few days ago, a tribute to Kent Rickertsen (pictured above, courtesy of The Follow) in time for his birthday...

CDs with full lyric & photo booklet coming in February

For more information, go here - http://thefollow.com/news/new-album-entitled-k-released

Yesterday, The Follow held its digital release party in-world at Ground Zero.  Attendees rode away with a Free black murdered-out K Custom Chopper by Hollywood Custom Choppers courtesy of Dave "Anek" Smith.  Seems a fitting giveaway for the event, in that Kent was a motorcycle enthusiast.

Keep up with The Follow's real and Second Life events on Facebook.

I will be featuring tracks from "K" on my show today, noon to 2PM SLT.
Slow Bake features SL musicians every Sunday for two hours on SL Live Radio.

Following 'The Follow" - Let the Countdown Begin

- Music News Flash -

They're back....

Amy Rickertsen

Troy Rickertsen

Mat Matlack

The Follow is about to release a new album.
Its fan base is already receiving the first single off the trio's new LP.

Powers Avon (Mat) hooked me up to the single last night.  It rocks - it's the band's best to date - encapsulating all that they have experienced on their life journey.  Powerful vocals, lyrics and instrumentation.   It's all there.  The cover art for the specially released single captures the struggle and a sense of moving on, overcoming, yet remaining aware of the steps taken along the way.   Good stuff.   Let's say, if this song is any indication of the rest of the tunes - it's iconic of rock and roll - what makes it relevant to every day people, timeless and heroic through its simplicity and raw emotion.  This Midwestern trio defines the heartland music as it should be;  all roads lead here.
The Follow has found its destination.

The Nov. 2nd released track - Thousand Days of Bravery - will debut on SLOW BAKE on SL Live Radio this Sunday, November 9th.   Tune into the station from noon to 2pm SLT to catch the band's first single off its soon-to-be-released album.    http://radiosllive.blogspot.com/

I am coordinating interview time with the band for my show.    That date has not been set yet (fingers crossed) - but I will play the first single of the new album this Sunday!

You gotta understand this is a hectic time for the band, in the midst of an album release and rehearsal.

The band is in rehearsal getting ready, for what I believe, will be a near-the-end-of-the year fantastic show in Second Life.  No dates have been confirmed for the album release or forthcoming concerts.

In fact, check out their site for daily info on The Follow's first "return" show -
venues can enter to win it.  Details on their site:  http://www.thefollow.com/

In anticipation, I am dedicating the music of this blog to The Follow.  You will notice a music chart near the top right of this blog's column - just touch it, and viola you will hear continuous The Follow music until the new album is released.   Look for the actual tuner on the top right side of this blog.

Here's the image -

When you find it, touch it to play, but sorry it won't let you download the tunes.   Support The Follow via CD Baby, iTunes, and other music outlets. Check out The Follow's web site for free downloads.

So enjoy the old, as the band brings you the new in time for 2015.

For now, following The Follow!

A Haunting Reminder - Good Radio is Fun

Only a week after SL Live Radio launched its new studios, Thorn Andel and Esme Capelo, founders, threw a Monster Bash.

Bel (left) & Sonicity (right)

Yours truly spin some SL favorites from local musicians for about an half-hour, and DJ Thorn and Jamey handled the reigns for the most part.

DJ Jamey
Esme - Pretty in Pink
Esme (above) made a guest appearance on-air telling of all the wonders to come for SL Live Radio listeners, and I added my two cents, namely that we were setting up an interview with The Follow over the next month or so to chat about the gang's new LP about to be released.

They are in virtual rehearsal right now, and in fact Powers Avon (The Follow's drummer) dropped into the studio in the midst of practice and our party.   More about that and more to come in the weeks ahead.

For now, here are our party shots!

House Band

Is this really Mimi Juneau!

Oh, Mimi - clowning around!

Bel as Jessica Rabbitt!

By the end of the night, things had gotten crazy - and then the little fairy waved her
wand, and Halloween was over.   But the music continues on SL Live Radio.
Catch me this Sunday, NOON to 2PM SLT, on SL Live Radio - following DJ Cupric's Musical Mystery Tour, starting at 10AM.  Join me live at Studio 2 in Second France.

Happy Birthday - AJ, Troy and Powers

On the tail of the release of The Follow's new album, Building Machines to Reach The Stars, the band threw a 2 year anniversary party.  Hard to believe it has been two years, and the three - AJ Darkwatch, Troy Shoreland and Powers Avon - have been going strong.

In the second hour of their show, The Follow kicked off their second hour with an incredible rendition of Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here.   I interviewed the band members for the June issue of Best of SL Magazine, so you can reference that story on the BOSL web site.

The Second Life music bash also honored Anj Gustafson, who preceded The Follow, for achieving more than 1,000 members in his fan base.  He chilled, dancing, with Boom Pony Music Club Owner Kiran Sporg, after his set.  Anj is an awesome musician, and it is likely he will remain on the grid a long time, and building his fan base.

The event was held at Boom Pony:

Congrats to all!

The Follow in the latest edition of Best of SL Magazine

Check out one of the featured stories headlined on the Cover of BEST OF SL MAGAZINE for June 2011.

Thanks for the interview, AJ, Troy and Powers!  Thanks to Lowe Runo Productions LLC for the taking one of the featured photos.  Here's the unedited version:

All the best,

Building Machines to Reach The Stars Part II

Streaming Live on Facebook while Live in SECOND LIFE!

Across the stage a banner read "Building Machines" announcing the latest album from The Follow (AJ Darkwatch bass; Powers Avon, drum; and Troy Shoreland, guitar). Two Moon Paradise hosted the album concert, and the grid was full. The beautiful vibes from the band added to the tropic surroundings. At one point, Troy told the fans that they need to realize their dreams are possible - just follow them, work toward them. He also said ask AJ how many hours he practiced along the way to get where he is - and where the band is now. He also said the meaning of the band's music has changed along the way, the lyrics change as they do. Of course, The Follow played over as usual. Look for future show dates and their new album on Amazon.com, iTunes, etc.
