Paper Gods in Khanada

Today was Duran Duran's release party for the bands' LP 'Paper Gods' - and leave to Chrissy Welinder to host a party for the occasion. Duran Duran fans came out to celebrate in SL style, and the theme was 'pink and blue' riffing off the LP cover.    A great summer's end party and plenty of good cheer about the new DD masterpiece made the occasion all the better.   It's a different style, but refreshing nonetheless.   It's really quite perfect, and fits in seasonally and also it just feels 'new.'    Head onto amazon.com to get it online in CD and Vinyl, and look for it soon as a download.

The Olympics at the DDU

The Olympics at the Duran Duran Universe, really! Why not? Duran Duran is performing as part of the Olympics - BT London Live Opening Ceremony Concert at Hyde Park Friday, July 27th. So DDU Machinimatographer JJccc Coronet filmed some "sports clips" from inside the mad mad world of Second Life to be presented as part of the video mix during the concert. The call for Duranees to come out only said - wear some kind of sports clothes. It was sort of fantasy and virtual world meets The Olympics. Jj's machinima captures it all. I am sure he will release a machinima soon - he's a madman when it comes to producing them! At one point, Bel got into a boxing match with the filmmaker! Not sure who won, but Bel ended up with a shiner!  [UPDATE:  MACHINIMA HERE - Bel makes her first appearance at 6:30, and then again around 7:53 for her boxing match, and runs about 90 seconds off and on, building in intensity.]

It was great fun, organized by DDU Community Manager Chrissy Welinder. Hope you had an opportunity to come out to DDU for the shooting early Saturday morning, and the later party in the afternoon.

First THINGS FIRST - BOSL Radio Resumes Today - Just in time for the Grand Opening of ZanzE Fashion Mall.

Happy Birthday, Mr. Rhodes!

50 is just a number.  Unless it is the BIG 5-0 for Nick Rhodes, one of the key founders of legendary Duran Duran.   Nick Rhodes was instrumental (along with Chrissy Welinder) in the launch of the Duran Duran Universe, that has brought so many fans opportunities to meet the members virtually.   As you may remember, Best of SL Magazine featured Nick Rhodes in an exclusive interview nearly a year ago.

Roger Moore recently did an impressive DJ set in-world, and like Nick he continually connects to us through music within the medium of SL.

The fun continues today, as Nick Rhodes celebrates his 50th with his fans.   He prepared his birthday playlist, and DJ Starman Mustang Mantha spins the songs along with voice inserts from Nick.

The dress code is demonic! It all happens Saturday 1PM SLT/PST at the Grand Tower of Hades on Tion.

The half-century mark for Nick is historical.  Be there to witness the magic behind his hypnotic power, and witness first hand the source of his creativity through his favs.

Come if you dare!   See what Nick unleashes before his virtual audience - and perhaps learn the secret powers behind his eternal youth.

Roger visits Duran Duran Universe

BOSL Radio takes a break for two weekends (at least on Saturdays!), and we will be back this upcoming Saturday.  But you know the music scene doesn't stop.   Lots of live music, and that is my specialty, at least the playing of the finest among the grid talent on my radio show Slow Bake.   I mused, what should I do with my free Saturday, and then like magic an announcement dropped down from Duran Duran Universe's SL Manager Chrissy Welinder - 'Roger Moore would be  doing a dj set that afternoon.'   So I dragged (quite easily my best friend/SL partner) Belinda Barnes to DDU to the arena at the Azizi Lipstick Tower.

The crowd cheered and applauded the amazing set, as Roger mixed the band's tunes with awesome creativity.  Vixie Durant was enjoying the show, and you might remember her as a DDU DJ among other venues!   Here's some photos - join the DDU in-world group to keep up to date - for you never when one of the DD members might pop into SL.
